Belfast Lord Mayor Alderman Brian Kingston met leading housing expert Professor Paddy Gray yesterday (Monday) ahead of next week’s European Network for Housing Research (ENHR) 2016 conference, when up to 400 international housing researchers will gather in Belfast. It is the first time that the ENHR conference has been held in Northern Ireland.
Conference speakers Siobhan McCauley, Housing Executive Director of Regional Services and Eileen Patterson, Director of Fold Housing Group also checked out the Assembly Building Conference Centre in downtown Belfast where ENHR2016 takes place from June 28 to July 1.
The housing researchers will take part in study tours in Belfast, Armagh and Derry during ENHR2016. The Housing Executive is the main sponsor of the conference.
Professor Gray of Ulster University’s School of the Built Environment said: “The hundreds of housing researchers who are coming to Belfast from all over Europe will see the so called ‘peace walls’ but will also find a city transformed.
“They will also visit Derry and Armagh, cities steeped in history, to see how areas affected by ‘The Troubles’ have now been regenerated.
